Aggravated Robbery
Sonic Drive-In, Aransas Pass
Case #19-20973
For Immediate Release

Just after 7:15 pm this past evening, officers were dispatched to the Sonic Drive-In located at 1662 W. Wheeler Avenue. The victim reported being robbed while trying to serve the driver his food. The driver/suspect, Jimmy Porter AGE 30 of Wink, Texas, used a rifle as he told the victim she was being robbed and needed to hand over all of her money. After receiving the victim’s money, Porter fled in his silver Mazda car. Porter was last seen heading north on FM 1069, but officers were not able to locate him.

Around 10 pm, Rockport PD officers, while assisting APPD, located the Mazda and recovered several firearms. Porter, however, fled from them on foot. After an extensive search and use of the Texas Game Warden K9 unit, Porter was located and arrested. He was turned over to Aransas Pass PD officers and booked into our municipal jail.

Porter was charged with aggravated robbery and felon in possession of a firearm. Porter’s rifles and vehicle were seized.

This case remains an active, open investigation. No other information is available at this time.
