Lifesaving “Heroes” Recognized!

Tonight at the Aransas Pass City Council meeting, we recognized two individuals for their lifesaving efforts back in October of 2014. The two recognized were Fred Shaw, resident, and Officer Daniel Piper.

On Sunday, October 19, 2014, resident Fred Shaw summoned officers to the 200 block of Pompano Drive for a suspicious vehicle driving through residents’ yards. Officer Daniel Piper responded to the location and immediately recognized that the motorist, Peter Cray, was suffering a medical emergency. Officer Piper forced his way into the vehicle and assisted Cray’s airway for breathing until emergency crews could arrive and take over.

Had it not been for resident Fred Shaw and Officer Daniel Piper, medically distressed Peter Cray would have died according to medical staff. On behalf of the Cray family and the City of Aransas Pass, I would like to thank you both for your actions that day and for constantly looking out for the well-being of folks within our community!

[blockquote quote=”God truly put everyone in place for this to all occur and our family cannot ever thank you enough for all that you did that day. You are genuinely a hero and I just wanted to let you know how thankful we are. To you, it was probably just another day at work… to us, we have a 2nd life with our father.” source=”Matt Cray & The Cray Family”]
