“Shop with a Cop” – A First for Aransas Pass!!

“Shop with a Cop” came to Aransas Pass this year and was a huge success! Thirty-four (34) qualifying children from Aransas Pass ISD were able to partake. We hope to expand the event next year for Aransas Pass children. We will begin promoting Christmas 2015 well in advance in hopes of gaining more contributions.

As it pertains to this mornings event, each child was allotted up to $125 to spend. The event kicked off at the Aransas Pass Walmart promptly at 9 a.m. this morning. The majority of money [per child] was spent on necessities for the child, such as clothing, grooming utensils, and cleaning products. Any leftover money was used to purchase a toy or two. Everything purchased, was chosen by the child. After shopping, the children were treated to lunch at Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut donated all 34 meals for the children.

Overall the kids had a blast and so did the participating law enforcement staff. There were law enforcement officials from the Aransas Pass PD, a local Constables office, Texas Parks & Wildlife office, and the US Border Patrol.

[blockquote quote=”I just want to say that I appreciate the assistance from all those who participated in making this event possible. Special recognition and appreciation goes out to the Corpus Christi Regional Lodge #27 Fraternal Order of Police, Shop with a Cop Inc., Aransas Pass ISD, Aransas Pass Walmart, and the Aransas Pass Pizza Hut. Without each of you and your individual contributions, we would not have been able to make this such a huge success this year. We sincerely appreciate your support and commitment to our community, thank you.

Oh and while I’m at it, let me not forget the most important person who contributed today, my mother! Thank you mom for all you do for me, my department, and our community, it doesn’t go unnoticed!” source=”Chief Eric Blanchard”]
