Online For-Hire Babysitter – CASE #15-16892 – In case you missed KIII’s News report, we’d like to spend a moment sharing some more details with you.
On Saturday August 22, 2015, Aransas Pass Police began a sexual assault investigation involving Daniel Billman AGE 42 and a victim child, under 10 years of age. Though specific details cannot be released, investigators discovered the parent of the child utilized services from an online-advertised babysitter. Unbeknownst to the parent, the babysitter was living with Billman at the time, and Billman would end up having alone time with the child. Investigators uncovered evidence that the child had been sexually assaulted on more than one occasion while in the company of Billman.
Aransas Pass Police warn parents to be very cautious when seeking child care services from an online source. It’s always best to leave a child in the company of a trusted adult, family member, or vetted child care service provider. Using online services like Craigslist, Backpage, or other free, non-specific solicitation websites should be severely scrutinized, if not avoided completely.
