Happy Holidays, Aransas Pass. We have some important news about school zones to share with you.
Beginning on January 8, 2024, the newly adopted school zone ordinance for the City will take place. Here are some key factors you need to know about concerning these changes:
- The ordinance removes inapplicable yet remaining school zones (ex., the school zone along W. Wheeler Avenue.)
- It changes the speed limit in all existing zones to 20 MPH while the school zone is active.
- It eliminates the “all-day” school zone and creates new zone times more appropriate for when students are present. The new times are from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The one-way school zone routes begin at 7 a.m. and run all day until 4:30 p.m.
