FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EVENT #24-4779 & 24-4782 — SHOTS FIRED

This morning, Sunday, 3/17/2024, at 4:13 a.m., APPD received a 911 call of shots fired in the area of 10th Street and McClung. As officers responded, more calls came in. Officers arrived in the area but did not find a shooter or any damage related to a shooting. Off-duty APPD officers and officers from neighboring agencies were requested.

At 5:21 a.m., additional calls came in of shots fired. This time, AP officers arriving in the area of 9th and McClung also heard the shots very near to their position. Officers responded in the direction of the shots, searching for the shooter but couldn’t find one. APPD used the support of several officers from varying agencies and the APPD thermal imaging drone to search within the perimeter established. Unfortunately, the shooter was not located, and there is no current description of who they are.

Officers spoke to several residents and investigated several suspicious findings in the area without finding any supportive evidence or information about the suspect. At one location, officers did find shell casings for more than one type of firearm.

We ask residents in these areas to closely review their security camera footage. Should assisting evidence be observed, we ask that you contact us to share that information.
