FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVENT #22-25718, FATAL CRASH

Highway 35 SB @ Oak Lane

Saturday evening, 10-29-2022, around 10:40 p.m., APPD officers and medical first responders were sent to a major crash involving two vehicles, one of them having rolled over. Officers arrived and checked the conditions of those involved. Officers found that 67-year-old Susan Ramstedt and 68-year-old John Burleigh were deceased while still buckled in their seats. The occupants of the other vehicle were outside the car and had non-life-threatening injuries. Officers continued the crash investigation.

Based on preliminary findings, it is believed the elderly couple’s vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way to southbound highway traffic as they were crossing the highway on Oak Lane. Their vehicle was t-boned by the other motorist traveling south on Highway 35. The elderly couple’s vehicle rolled onto its roof and came to a rest in the grassy median.

The investigation continues. Should we need to bring you more information, it will be released here.

Media inquiries should be routed to Sgt. Jeremy Gates at 361-758-5224.
