Lifesaver Recognized and Awarded

Chief, Jack McCarty, and EMS Director Steve Knight
Lifesaver Recognized and Awarded – During the Monday evening council meeting, Officer Jack McCarty was recognized for saving a baby’s life. Anytime an officer saves the life of another, he or she receives formal recognition and is awarded the Lifesaving Medal. The details surrounding this award are as follows:

This Recognition is hereby given to Officer Jack McCarty for the outstanding way you performed your duties on September 13, 2018, when you responded to a residence in the 200 Blk. of N. McCampbell Street, Aransas Pass, Texas.

Upon arrival, you encountered a 1-year-old baby who was struggling to breathe and remain alert. The baby ingested a narcotic and had aspirated on vomit. You quickly sprang into action delivering lifesaving rescue breaths and administering the AED, in the event the baby’s heart stopped. Drawing from your training, experience, and devotion to public service, you took command of the situation. Your deliberate and precise response meant emergency medical care was provided in a timely manner.

EMS staff and your fellow officers recognized your efforts as having severely impacted the child’s ability to hold onto life. Without your presence and commanding actions, this child might not have lived to see another day.

Today, the Aransas Pass Police Department takes great pride in awarding you with the Lifesaving award. Your actions September 13th have been directly attributed to saving a life. Your performance during this event epitomizes our core values of honor, commitment, wisdom, and compassion, and the true meaning of public service. Thank you!

Awarded this the 1st day of October 2018.

Way to go, Jack! Keep on saving lives!
