Once again, the Aransas Pass Police Department has collaborated with the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office (SPSO) for Operation “Silent Night.” This marks the fourth operation in approximately two years in our area.

An indictment or arrest contains claims that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Both departments operate locally and focus on street-level distributors. San Patricio County Captain Roy Hinds explained the latest operation and the rationale behind targeting local drug pushers. “The local impact agreement we have with all cities in San Patricio County and Aransas County aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle low-level criminal organizations that threaten the well-being of our community. We work closely with the Aransas and San Patricio County District Attorneys through an intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach. This strategy leverages the strengths of local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks while also providing intelligence to state and federal police agencies as needed. It’s important for local agencies to address constituents’ complaints and tackle crime trends that may be too minor for state and federal agencies to handle.”
The Aransas Pass Police Department has detectives assigned to the DEA as Task Force Officers (TFOs). The San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of securing TFO deputies soon. This partnership benefits federal, state, and local agencies and the communities they serve.
This operation demonstrates the success of public safety when we work together. Additionally, our strong partnership with the community in Aransas Pass has significantly contributed to these recent successful operations. Our success would not be possible without the supportive and helpful police-community partnership we hold today. Furthermore, these operations showcase the effective teamwork of detectives and investigators from the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division’s / Narcotics Division and the Aransas Pass Police Department’s Narcotics Division. I want to thank our officers assigned and community members for their continuous efforts to ensure the safety within the community and for striving for excellence in improving the quality of life for all!
The assignment of a deputy or officer allows the DEA to work alongside a local officer or deputy who is knowledgeable about the local criminal landscape. Additionally, it enables participation in long-term, multi-agency investigations that may not be feasible at the local level for various reasons.
TFOs represent a cooperative effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking. They serve as a key tool for disrupting and dismantling major drug trafficking organizations. This collaboration targets both national and regional drug operations and coordinates the necessary law enforcement resources to disrupt or dismantle these criminal organizations and seize their assets.
The teamwork demonstrated by the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (C.I.D.) and the Aransas Pass Police Department Narcotics Division has led to the removal of a significant quantity of drugs from our local communities—an effort that likely would not have been possible at a local level. Both agencies consistently work to ensure the safety of the citizens in San Patricio and Aransas Counties, and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
The narcotics divisions have assisted in the arrest of several suspects. It is important to note that approximately a dozen additional fugitive apprehensions related to this operation still need to be made. Investigator John J. Valdez of the Aransas Pass Police Department stated, “We anticipate more arrests over the holidays. So, if you sell poison on the streets of our community, understand that it is not a matter of if but when we’ll be coming for you. Happy holidays to everyone in AP, and may you enjoy a holy, silent night!”
