Remembering Chief of Police Melvin Shedd – This week, Aransas Pass PD lost a former leader in law enforcement, the Honorably Retired Chief of Police Melvin Shedd. Chief Shedd passed away surrounded by his family.

Melvin began his career in law enforcement in 1968 as a dispatcher for the city of Aransas Pass. In 1972 he took a Deputy Sheriff’s position for the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Department. In late 1977 he ran for the position of Constable for San Patricio County and served in this capacity until his appointment to Chief of Police in 1979. He served the community of Aransas Pass, Texas for the next 24 years as Chief of police until his retirement in 2003. Upon his retirement in 2003, Melvin served in law enforcement for a total of 36 years. During his tenure as Chief of Police he had been recognized as one of the longest tenured Chief of Police in the state of Texas. (Courtesy CMFH)

Service will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019.
2:00 p.m. – The memorial service begins.

GRAVESIDE:
There will not be a graveside ceremony.
