Today, I publicly announce several changes within the police department. From a retirement to several promotions, here’s the latest.
Earlier this month, Assistant Chief of Police David Wood announced his retirement. AC Wood has been a vital part of the police department’s patrol and investigations division’s day-to-day operations. Through his leadership, we have evolved both services to being top-notch for the residents of and visitors to Aransas Pass. His contribution to our department’s family will be missed, but his legacy will last for years to come. On behalf of the Police Department, City, and our tight-knit family, I wish you well AC Wood on the next chapter of your life.
With AC Wood’s retirement comes several promotional opportunities. This round of promotions has been somewhat of a struggle considering we have very strong contenders for each position needing filling.
Capt. Lynn Pearce now leads the department as the Assistant Chief of Police. Sgt. Aaron Jones now takes over for AC Pearce in leading our administrative captain and training coordinator position. And, last but most certainly not least, Ofc. Jeremy Gates takes over for Capt. Jones as our newest patrol sergeant. I have great confidence in each of these officers’ ability to lead and help me as we continue to direct the PD and our services into the future.
In keeping with an age-old tradition, each officer handed down their epaulet/collar medals to those assuming their old seat. In the pictures that follow, AC Wood (retired) pins AC Pearce, AC Pearce pins Capt. Jones, and Capt. Jones pins Sgt. Gates.
