On Monday, August 6, 2018, at approximately 10:01 p.m., officers were sent to Sherwood Forest Dr. for shots fired. Upon arrival, the suspect was gone but officers determined that a number of rifle rounds had been fired at a residence in the 1900 Blk. of Sherwood Forest Dr. Some of the rounds struck a vehicle in the area along with an occupied residence. No one was injured in this shooting, and witnesses were able to identify the shooter.
A short while later, APPD learned of a shooting in Portland, Texas. Portland PD was able to locate and arrest the suspect involved in that shooting. The suspect arrested in Portland is the same suspect identified by witnesses in Aransas Pass.
At this time, we are unable to release any further details about this event. The incident remains an active and open investigation.

Michael Jeffery Smock AGE 29 was arrested and charged with aggravated assault (Portland PD) and deadly conduct (Aransas Pass PD). Both charges are serious felonies. Smock remains in custody at this time.
