FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVENT #23-20902, THEFT OF COPPER / CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Are you tired of your internet going out? We here at APPD sure are, and maybe not for the same reasons. But we’re confident it annoys many of us and on varying levels.
It doesn’t help that we have a thief or two going around climbing poles and cutting down copper wire. In fact, while they were up there, they took it upon themselves to cut down a Frontier main fiber line, which seems common each time this occurs. Nope, they didn’t make off with the fiber. They just destroyed it while going after the copper line next to it.
Around 2 a.m.this morning, the criminal(s) struck in the area of Cleveland and Commercial. They damaged over 2000 feet of copper and fiber internet lines. More valuable than the small amount of copper they made off with is the cost of the damage left in their wake. From our past experience, damage this significant will cost the victim business upwards of 20-50 thousand dollars in repairs.
Please help us locate and identify these criminals. Otherwise, we’re going to continue dealing with internet outages. ISPs like Frontier will continue forking out 10s-of-thousands of dollars repairing/restoring services, and eventually, those losses will equate to internet price hikes!
Did we mention that we will pay you for your successful tip? Do you run a metal salvage yard that might have seen some of this? Yup, you’re eligible for a tip reward, too!!
Tipsters MUST remain anonymous, and tips MUST route through Tri-County Crimestoppers to be reward-eligible.
