We would like to congratulate our graduates of the first-ever Aransas Pass Civilian Defense Academy. They have endured training every Thursday for the last 5 weeks. We had 9 citizens complete this training, and they are now better prepared to protect themselves and the ones they love.
The training included the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE), Stop the Bleed, Protecting your Residence, Defensive Tactics, and a final Scenario Based Active Shooter training where students were placed in the shoes of a law enforcement officer responding to an active attack event.
A special thanks to our instructors: Captain Aaron Jones, HSEO Jack McCarty, Detective Troy Poe, IT Manager David Offalter, and San Patricio County Deputy J.D. Hinojosa.
We look forward to making this a yearly event and we hope to see you at next year’s training!
