Last week we hosted the Crystal Bath Memorial TCO Symposium. This telecommunication conference had guest speakers including Jill and Doug Showalter with Showalter and Co. discussing a diverse range of leadership topics, Dawn Shumway from the Denise Amber Lee Foundation discussing proper communications with callers, and Joe McCarville from 911 Gold Line Training covering team building and how to handle issues within the communications center. Heath Harwick from HSI, Lerrin Johnson from Texas Parks and Wildlife, and Melissa Huffman from the National Weather Service discussed a variety of resources available to telecommunications officers. We also had a vendor area where we showcased public safety and local vendors.
We had 62 attendees on Day 1 and 58 attendees on Day 2 of the symposium. Attendees came from all over the state to be part of the conference. I am happy to say we received nothing but fantastic reviews, and we are already starting the planning process for next year.
