New Instructors

Last week we had 4 employees gain their TCOLE Instructor Certifications, bringing us up to 18 instructors in the department.

Animal Control Officer Deanna Gates has been with Aransas Pass Animal Control for approximately 4 years. She has recently been asked to teach for DSHS and hopes to bring more Animal Control Training to our area. She has a dedication and passion for her job and educating others. She will also be leading future animal-related training we have scheduled for our police officers.

Telecommunications Supervisor Amy Frerichs has been with the Aransas Pass Police Department for about 8 months and came to us from Tarrant County, where she served as a jailer, communications officer, and patrol deputy. She will be advancing the training we provide for our communications officers and those in our area.

Officer Moriah Lisko has been with Aransas Pass Police Department since March of 2020. She came to us from Tom Green County, where she spent approximately 3 years as a Telecommunications Officer. She has a passion for victim advocacy and is working to start a Crisis Response Team in our area. She is working to become a Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigations Instructor.

Officer Jairo Herrea has been with the Aransas Pass Police Department for two and a half years and came to us after serving in the U.S. Marines and spending time as a commercial diver. He has a vast knowledge of firearms, tactics, and diving. Ofc. Herrera looks to become a firearms instructor and has plans to obtain his dive instructor certifications to instruct our marine and dive teams.

The course they attended is an intense 40-hour course that covers everything from building lesson plans to delivery, presentation, and assessments. Congratulations to our 4 new instructors.
