FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVENT #23-8986, DEATH INVESTIGATION

On Monday, 4/24/2023, around 11:50 a.m., officers and police rescue divers were sent to the San Patricio Navigation District located at 426 E. Ransom Road for a suspected body in the water. The reporter told dispatchers that he saw a couple of shoes underneath his boat and believed it to be the body of another employee who was believed to have walked off the job. Police arrived at the location and confirmed the shoes were attached to a body.

Marine diver and Harbor Safety and Enforcement Officer Jack McCarty suited up and recovered the corpse from underneath the boat.

The decedent is described as a white male, possibly in his 60s and with possible tattoos on his arms. He has facial hair and wore a dark solid-colored shirt, dark-colored pants, and sandals. The state of his body when recovered is making it difficult to identify him or any obvious causes as to what happened leading to his death.

APPD detectives assumed the case investigation and continue to search for answers as to what happened. Additionally, they’re working to identity the decedent. If you have information about this case, please contact Det. Stacey Allen or Capt. Kyle Rhodes with APPD CID 361-758-5224. Or, you can remain anonymous by submitting your information via Crimestoppers.
