This evening at the City Council meeting, Officer Nicholas Harwood was recognized for his heroic actions in extending life for a child in need. Some time back, Ofc. Harwood signed up as a volunteer stem cell donor and in April, he got the call that he was a match and there was a child in need of his marrow. On Tuesday April 22, 2014, Ofc. Harwood underwent a surgical procedure to extract bone marrow from his body for an infant with leukemia.
Ofc. Harwood’s charitable action of providing from his body unto the needs of an unknown but needy child is commendable and exemplifies the true meaning of “Public Service”. Thank you Ofc. Harwood, may we all strive to live up to your selfless example of caring for others!
