Suspicious Male Subject

On 10-18-12 at approximately 3:30 pm officers with the Aransas Pass Police Department were dispatched to the area of S. Whitney and W. Highland in Aransas Pass, Texas. Several citizens have contacted the police department reporting an elderly male individual acting suspiciously in the area.

The reporting parties have described the male subject in question as a tall, slender, white male holding a dog that is either white with black spots or white with brown spots. Several children in the area of the bus stops located in Oak Park, and Wendi Lane are advising police of the same information. They are all stating that the elderly male approaches them early in the morning (7:00 am) and in the evening (3:45-4:00 pm) holding his dog and asking the children if they want to walk the dog with him. One child also advised that the elderly male subject has been seen hiding behind trees and fences in the 600 block of W. Highland in the morning time. The male subject’s behavior is highly suspicious.

Police and school staff urge parents and children to be on high alert right now during times both before and after school. It would be best to make sure that children are escorted on their walk to school or walk in packs. If confronted by a suspicious subject, children should run away while bringing attention to themselves. Children should also report these events to a parent or trusted adult.

Police will be out in force searching for this subject. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Aransas Pass Police Department immediately at 361-758-5224 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-245-TIPS/8477.
