This weekend APPD was invited to put on the ALERRT Level 1 Active Shooter Response Training for Port A PD. In this course, we covered priorities of work when responding to an active attack or active shooter event, single officer response principals, team movements, incident command, the law enforcement rescue model, and immediate medical response.
This is just the beginning of our training relationship with Port A PD, and there will be more to come. Local agencies working and training together will only build the response to each of our communities should we ever have an active attack event.
Thanks to Port Aransas PD for the invite, Port Aransas High School for letting us use their facilities over the weekend, and also a special thanks to those PAISD teachers and APPD staff who came out to assist us with the scenarios.
