Outside Training in the Rain???

Last week we did not let the rain stop us from training. We hosted the Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events course here in Aransas Pass. Officers from Aransas Pass PD, Ingleside PD, Portland PD, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Houston PD, and even the US Navy attended this three-day course designed to cover topics including equipment selection, vehicle ambushes, medical emergencies, vehicle and dismounted, officer/citizen down rescue, individual/ team movement techniques, and emergency vehicle crisis response.

The officers that attended this class spent two of the three days soaking wet, but gained valuable knowledge for themselves and to bring back to their departments. This course was put on by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) at no cost to APPD or the participants.

This is the 3rd of 4 active attack training classes we are completing this summer. The next class will focus on the emergency medical response to an active attack including utilizing a rescue task force to treat and extricate the wounded from an active attack situation.
