Assistant Chief (AC) Jones began with the Aransas Pass Police Department as a member of the police explorer program in 2002. Just four years later in 2006, Jones went on to be hired by APPD as a telecommunications officer and was promoted to communications supervisor just a couple of years later. In 2010, Jones attended the Del Mar Regional Police Academy, graduating as the top academic student, and transitioned from communications to the patrol division. While in patrol, Jones was assigned as a narcotics K-9 handler before being promoted to patrol sergeant in 2012. As a patrol sergeant, he lead a shift of up to 6 officers.
